The Potential threats that ICT produces on society today

There are many potential threats that ICT has produces in society today.

Cyber bulling can be a big issue for people who use ICT. This is because people can go onto the websites to purposely harm and abuse someone. Many people who get abused can now report the person, for example on Facebook there is now a report button which would make the moderators aware. If on Windows live messenger or any other network you can talk on, you are able to block the user from contacting you.

People around the world can hack and fraud peoples accounts to steal money. This could happen by phishing scams. These scams are sent to your inbox and they claim to be a real business or company wanting your money and/or details. Most people would recommend users not opening these emails and just deleting them out of your inbox so they can not cause any harm to you or your computer.

Now people have the equipment developed by ICT, they are able to send viruses to people’s devices with a simple email, download or by just opening a web page. These viruses can slow down the computer and put your personal information at risk. You can buy a virus protection such as Norton that can keep people from getting virus’ on the device.

People who have access to all of your information can identity theft. If a criminal gains access to your computer by hacking it, they are then able to find personal information about you, this could include bank details and passport information. This could be critical if found as it can be used in many ways. Money theft as well as terrorist could use passport information to get in and out of a country.

In conclusion I feel that the use of ICT has produced many threats on society today that can put the most innocent people in danger. The more technology increase, the more harmful it could be towards young and old people, especially if criminals get hold of specific technology putting people’s security at risk.
